School Parliamentarians' London Visit

19 Sep

Annually at Colmers Farm, we take our new School Parliamentarians on a visit to London so they can find out more about democracy and begin to think about the skills they will need to be successful in their roles. We were accompanied on this trip by the School Parliamentarians from Green Meadow Primary School and Turves Green Primary School, who they will be working with over the coming the year.

On this visit, our pupils had special guided tours of Westminster Abbey (which played a crucial role in early democracy) and the Houses of Parliament. They also visited the front door of 10 Downing Street, Horse Guards Parade and Buckingham Palace.

It was a very long and busy day for our school parliamentarians, but they thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learned lots about the places visited and various historical characters who helped to shape democracy in our country. We received many compliments about our pupils from the general public and from the people conducting our tours. Well done everybody for representing our school so fabulously.
